Why GovTech, Why Now

Around the world, GovTech summits in London, Paris, and Singapore bring together government, industry, and academia to strengthen digital services and public trust. Canada has lacked such a national platform—until now.

The University of Ottawa’s Professional Development Institute (PDI), located in the heart of the capital, is uniquely positioned to convene this conversation. As a trusted neutral ground between government and business, and as a leader in professional training, PDI is launching Canada’s GovTech Summit—a first-of-its-kind national event.

Conference to be held at the Rogers Centre Ottawa (Day 1) and on the uOttawa Campus (Day 2).

Event Overview

Summit at a Glance

Canada is at a crossroads. Once ranked 3rd in the UN’s E-Government Development Index (2010), Canada has slid to 47th in 2024. The Auditor General has repeatedly flagged the risks of outdated IT systems and their impact on citizen services, while global geopolitical pressures demand stronger digital independence and sovereignty.

The challenge is clear: urgent action is needed to restore Canada’s leadership in digital government.
